The Cellulite Patch - Can They Really Patch Up Your Cellulite Problems?
July 2nd, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedIn the never-ending search for a cure for cellulite, experts have developed the cellulite patch. The cellulite patch made its debut in the European market and reached the US just last 2008. What attracts consumers to this type of treatment is its promise to deliver smooth and toned skin as it uses the same ingredients known to fight cellulite like caffeine and seaweed. Many of these patches are applied overnight for up to three weeks to slowly release the ingredients into the bloodstream thru absorption while others can be worn during the day which applies the mechanism of destroying and melting fat. All of these patches promise to deliver a more attractive and sexy appearance especially on affected areas of cellulite.
They claim to remove the “dimpled skin” and make skin tighter. Cellulite patches contain ingredients that are similar to the ones found in body wraps that mainly help in blood circulation and in the treatment cellulite. An advantage of cellulite patches is that their potency can be felt even after a short period of time upon application. Key ingredients that are in these cellulite patches draw blood to the surface of the skin which gives a “tingling” effect to the one wearing them. This is the result of the rapid increase in blood circulation. It’s like taking Niacin or Vitamin B supplements that help in improving skin’s texture, but only for a short period of time.
Commonly found ingredients in cellulite patches, aside from caffeine, can be listed as follows:
- Seaweed - this ingredient makes the skin warm which can make it look smooth and supple
- Lavender - an herb that soothes the skin
- Algae - has been proven to improve blood circulation
- Dandelion - a very effective natural detoxifier
- Chamomile - also a detoxifying agent; has a calming effect on the senses
- Kelp - also boosts blood circulation
So can cellulite patches really work against cellulite? When they claim to be anti-cellulite products, do they really hold merit on this claim? Cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists say that like body wraps, these patches only reach the top layer of the skin yet they could still stimulate the skin’s surface. They have also confirmed that creams and lotions that are unable to reach the skin’s deepest layers cannot effectively melt the fat.
A famous dermatologist has been quoted in saying that only minimal absorption takes place with a cellulite patch treatment which means that they could hardly get to the fat. What they do is reduce the appearance of cellulite but not really diminishing the cellulite itself. They can make the skin look smooth and tight only on a temporary basis.
